Transport: King's Cross Station

General information

King's Cross station serves parts of Scotland, North-East England, East Anglia and the Home Counties north of London.

King's Cross new concourse

The impressive King's Cross Western concourse opened in March 2012, part of a complete re-development of the station which in 2013 will see the ugly 1970s green canopy removed and the space turned into a public square.

King's Cross new square

The new concourse serves as the Departures hall, with access to Platforms 0 to 8 via the ticket barriers at the southern end and also from a footbridge which is reached from the mezzanine (upper level) where many of the restaurants and cafés can be found. The barriers that lead to Platforms 9 - 11 are at the northern end of the concourse.

The old concourse is used for Arrivals and there is an access route from there to the new concourse near Platform 8.

Platform 0 opened in 2010 and is so called because it was built beside Platform 1.
